TWISTED SISTER Frontman Hired By Phliadelphia Radio Station
August 17, 2004Philadelphia rock station WMMR-FM (93.3) has hired TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider to host the 7 p.m.-to-midnight weekday shift, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"They made me an offer I couldn't refuse," Snider said.
After his premiere, Snider will host mostly from his home studio on Long Island. He's been married for 28 years and doesn't want to "tear out" his four children. "In fairness to WMMR, they want to see if it'll work," Snider said. "I'm still a stone's throw away."
Snider, a regular on VH1 and buddy of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger — who used TWISTED SISTER's "We're Not Gonna Take It" as an anthem — also does TWISTED SISTER dates and has a syndicated radio show called "House of Hair". The 'MMR job, he says, will allow him to "move up to the next level" in radio.
Asked whether he'd have sole say on his playlist, he said: "No way! I'm a headbanger. I like dark, crazy music." Brightening, he added: "But there's a lot of great music out there."
